Patio and Poolscape Builders in Toledo, OH
Where dinner ends up in July
People do not gather on grass. They gather on the hard surface, which makes the patio the single biggest decision about how a backyard works.
Luck Lagoons & Landscaping builds patios and poolscapes for homeowners in Toledo, OH and surrounding communities, planned with the water, the planting, and the lighting rather than poured around them.
Why the Patio Gets Drawn First
The common story is a pool that went in first with four feet of concrete poured around it, and nothing after that lines up.
The deck is too narrow to put a table on, the grill has nowhere to go, and the grade sends water at the house. Josh has been the second phone call on enough of those to plan the surface with everything else from the start.
Layout Comes Before Material
How many people sit down, where the traffic runs, how far it is from the kitchen, and where the sun lands at six in the evening. Those decide the shape and size of the patio. Material selection is a later and easier conversation.
What Poolscape Builders Have To Solve
A poolscape is the whole environment around the water: deck width, coping, drainage away from the shell, wet-foot traffic routes, and where equipment hides. Get the deck dimensions wrong and every gathering happens single file. Those numbers get drawn with the pool.
Base Work Is Why A Patio Stays Flat
Almost every failed patio in this region failed underneath. Excavation depth, compaction, and drainage do the work, and freeze and thaw punishes anything shortcut down there. What you see is the last few inches of a job that was mostly decided below grade.
Material and Pattern Chosen Against the House
Natural stone and decorative paver patios each read differently next to a given brick or siding color, and the pattern changes how large the space feels. You choose materials with our team on site.
Steps, Walls, and Changes in Level
Most properties are not flat, and the level changes are where a patio either feels designed or feels patched. Seat walls, steps, and terracing get drawn as part of the layout, which also settles where the lighting has to go.

What Our Clients are Saying
“Josh and his crew from the pond shop/Luck landscaping were wonderful. We had a beautiful Pond installed that continues to evolve over the summer. The landscape design is amazing. It seems like something is always in bloom. The crew was very professional. Always on time. And it seemed like they were creating a piece of art. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made!”

How Your Patio Or Poolscape Project Moves Forward
1. Property Evaluation & Project Consultation
Josh spends one to two hours on the property working out where people would sit, where water currently goes, and what the grade will allow. You leave with a written scope, scale, and budget report. The fee is $200.
2. Design
Surface layout gets drawn with the water, the planting, and the lighting, so trenches are shared rather than cut twice. Andrew handles how the patio meets the house on one side and the lawn on the other.
3. Construction
Excavation, base and compaction, drainage, then setting the surface, walls, and steps. The part nobody sees takes the longest, and that is on purpose.
4. Final Walkthrough
You put furniture where you plan to put it and walk the traffic routes before handoff, so a tight corner gets found while the crew is still there.
Answers To Your Patio And Poolscape Questions
-
Big enough for the furniture you intend to use plus room to walk behind seated people. The Luck Lagoons team sizes it against the gatherings you host rather than a standard dimension.
-
Surfaces that stay cool underfoot, handle wet traffic, and match the coping and the house. Selections get walked with you during design.
-
Slope, base construction, and drain placement get designed together so water leaves the surface and moves away from the foundation.
-
At the same time. Deck width, coping, and drainage are pool decisions as much as patio decisions, which is why the pool design and build plan includes them.
